Being in two places at once seems impossible, especially when the whole world is in the middle of a pandemic.
I never would have thought that I would get the opportunity to go wherever I wanted, until now. When my professor first proposed the idea of going to an underrepresented country, I jumped at the idea of exploring somewhere new. I chose to explore Bogotá because I’ve known so many people from there and wanted to immerse myself in its surroundings. I have been gradually learning the culture and language that this beautiful city contains, so being able to see it for myself was incredible.
I gained a sense of awe and new appreciation for this wonderful city. Wandering around Bogotá has given me an urge to further my exploration and physically go to this beautiful city and immerse myself in its culture.
La Candelaria is a historic neighborhood in Bogotá containing rich history and attracting many tourists. Calle or “street” signs add a historical touch to the city of Bogotá. Their significance goes back to older times.
About the Author: Samantha McCarrick

I was born in Guangzhou, China but was adopted when I was 9 months old. I attend Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL as a marketing major as well as a graphic design minor. I was drawn to graphic design in high school because creating digital compositions was fascinating.
My work in acrylic paint leans more toward the abstract than realist, and I am also interested in analyzing visual angles in my photography.
The dream is to pursue a career in marketing for alternative music artists and cruise companies.
